Robert Berg founded Foster Design Build (FDB) after spending over twenty years in the construction business. Projects throughout the Midwest have ranged from new construction luxury custom homes, healthcare facilities, airport renovations and residential developments. Robert spent the last five years as Director of Construction for a general contractor here in Chicago. Prior to that role, he worked for a large mechanical engineering firm as the Director of Special Projects supervising large electrical, plumbing, HVAC and building automation projects throughout the Chicagoland area.

  • New construction of Arthur and Gladys Pancoe-Evanston Northwestern Healthcare Life Sciences Pavilion, a 174,000 square foot medical research facility in Evanston, Illinois.
  • New construction of a 5,700 square foot custom home in the Lincoln Park area of Chicago with rooftop pool and home theater.
  • Renovation of 130 year old, 5,800 square foot home in Chicago’s Kenwood neighborhood working with the City of Chicago Historical and Landmark Departments.
  • Numerous projects, both residential and commercial, for the Department of Navy and Department of Defense at Great Lakes Naval Station.
  • Randolph Place Lofts - Rennovation - 16 story former warehouse building in downtown Chicago - Including 341 Luxury loft condominiums, 100,000 square feet of commercial space and 500 car parking garage. Encompassing one full city block and standing at nearly one million square feet, at its conception Randolph Place was the largest residential conversion in the country.
  • Ohare International Airport (H&K) Food court renovation - Complete renovation of the H&K terminals food court including 7 restaurants and 3600 square feet of retail space.
  • Hyde Park Bank - Complete renovation of Hyde Park Bank lobby and offices and entrance.

Originally from Bristol, Wisconsin, Robert moved to Chicago in 1993. He now lives in the Lakeview neighborhood of Chicago with his wife and son.
